The Year was 2009 and the Month was April . .a Special Month for Rick Droit, the Month of his Birth, The Month of New Beginnings. .and Old Familiar Feelings.
On April 7th 2009 Rick stepped in the door of The Congress House Studio in Austin, Texas. . ready to record two new songs which would be the start of a new album.
Rick recorded "Wild Mustangs" and "In The Air" before his guest Sara Hickman arrived to add her parts. "In the Air" was a road polished gem that has been a part of Droit's sets over the past few years, while "Wild Mustangs" which Rick penned most recently is a fun duet filled with sassy bantering back and forth between two friends of the opposite sex.
Sara recorded this with Rick shortly before her being presented with the 2010 Texas State Musician title, she had previously recorded at Congress House and introduced Rick to Producer/Engineer Mark Hallman who not only engineered the entire album, he also performs on several of the songs. Previously a member of Carole King's touring band and Dan Fogelberg's band, Mark is a virtuoso who plays Bass, Drums, Percussion, Dobro and Steel Guitar on the album.
Other guests include Kristin DeWitt (Tom Prasada-Rao, Sara Hickman). Christopher Yarrow, Laura Freeman (Luna Tart, Chris Chandler), Theo Bick (Hurdy Gurdy), Tami Griffin (Turtle Creek, Bo'Jet), Brian Standefer (Cory Morrow, Ian Moore), Warren Hood (2012 Austin music Award Winner - Best Violin)
